About Karlyn

Several years ago, I was lucky to meet a lady named Pamela Skyrme. Over many meetings and coaching sessions, she showed me a new way to function in my working environment that dramatically reduced the amount of stress I was under. From this experience, I became fascinated with the role that psychology plays in our working lives, and it wasn’t long before I decided to pursue a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. I expect to complete all my work and dissertation sometime in the 2014 range.

In the meantime, I’m writing about what I’m learning, what I’m researching and things I’m thinking about. Currently, I’m most interested in the role that social media plays in our professional lives and the interaction of that role with our day-to-day jobs. Some organizations encourage employees to use it, but many more downright discourage it. I want to know why.
